5.4. VMWare Infrared Configuration
With vmware, you can configure your vmware session to listen to what it thinks is COM2, but really is your IR port on your laptop or PC. This is how you take devices and ports which vmware doesn't natively support, and still gain functionality from them. I have COM1 set up as a USB device (/dev/usb/tts/0), and COM2 set up as an IR device (/dev/ircomm0). Works perfectly!
