From hacker at gnu-designs.com Thu Aug 8 22:35:43 2002 From: hacker at gnu-designs.com (David A. Desrosiers) Date: Thu, 8 Aug 2002 22:35:43 -0400 (EDT) Subject: pilot-link 0.11.3 released, please upgrade Message-ID: -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 As some of you may have noticed, we released 0.11.2, and then several hours later, released 0.11.3 of pilot-link, fixing a small bug in the process, which was causing some issues with J-Pilot. 0.11.3 works flawlessly with J-Pilot (so far, fingers crossed) libpisock has been incremented in this release, because we actually changed the library somewhat, which may or may not affect applications relying on it. Consider it "binary incompatible" with previous releases due to this fact. I am targeting a 0.11.4 release for 2 weeks away from today, which puts us at about August 23. If anyone has patches or features they'd like to see, or bugs that have been found in 0.11.3, please get them to me directly before that time, or file them in the bugtracker found online at: http://bugs.pilot-link.org Loose list of things planned/fixed for 0.11.4: --------------------------------------------- - Fix the TCL autoconf macros (Larry Virden, can you help here?) - Add curses support to pilot-xfer's Backup/Fetch/Install/Sync targets for a better visable output than a scrolling list. Remove -q[uiet] and add -v[erbose] option (or leave -q and add -v, not sure yet) - Fix do_rom tests in pilot-xfer.c - More manpages, clean up existing documentation - pilot-datebook comments, indenting - Figure out the read-notepad issue with OS3.5x devices as reported in bug #0000240 - Add --with-png=$(PNG_PREFIX) to configure.in to allow specifying a different path for libpng. - Fix the Java issue found in bug #0000246 (David Goodenough, can you help here?) - Add missing legacy DLP 1.2 calls pilot-link 0.11.3 is currently the latest stable release, and you are STRONGLY encouraged to upgrade to this version. Many things have been fixed, but here's a quick rundown: 0.11.3 - ------ User Updates ------------ - Reverted a previous pilot-xfer option that overwrote the existing line during a backup. Curses will be dropped into here soon to more finitely control this. Development Updates ------------------- - Fixed a missing dlpErrIllegalReq in pi-dlp.h that caused problems with J-Pilot 0.11.2 - ------ User Updates ------------ - install-todos -f didn't work at all in 0.11, fixed. - pilot-addresses didn't import the right csv format, fixed. - pilot-xfer now has a more "usable" backup style, and the -q option now does something useful (this will be changing in the near future, enabling curses to control the backup "windowing") - First pass at native FreeBSD support from Anish Mistry (we need testers!) - Updated the manpages and fixed some typos in the source documentation Development Updates ------------------- - ReadDBList was returning an incorrect value, confusing J-Pilot, fixed. - TCL version test was incorrect in ./confiure.in, fixed. There are other issues with detecting TCL/TK/iTCL which will be addressed and appear in a later version. - pi-addresses.h had an incorrect field ordering which caused the ouput csv to be incompatible with the record format, fixed. - Updates to allow pilot-link to build under BSD/OS 4.3 (Jeffrey C Honig) I want to also express my thanks and appreciation for everyone who has been helping with these releases. Without your help testing, debugging, sending in patches, filing bugs, and generally helping out in whatever ways you can, we'd never be able to make these rapid releases like this. Thanks again to everyone who has jumped onboard and helped out. I'm off to a triathlon for a few days, so I won't be responding to email, but I'll catch up when I get back.
